Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the Fourth Best-Selling Game of 2024 in the US
May-02-2024
In the latest Circana report from March 2024, the video game landscape in the United States saw notable entries like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Helldivers 2 achieving significant market success. Among the latest launches, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth—the second chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy—claimed the fourth highest sales spot for video games in the US over the year.
After a strong debut, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth slipped to seventh place in sales for March, following a second-place entry in February. Circana's Executive Director, Matt Piscatella, shared insights into the game's performance. In comparison to other games in the celebrated series, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth stands as the 14th highest in lifetime dollar sales among all Final Fantasy titles. Despite lagging behind, it still showcases strong numbers, with Final Fantasy 15 leading the pack, followed by Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the original Final Fantasy 7.
Speculation surrounds the sales performance of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which reportedly generated roughly half the sales of its predecessor during the equivalent post-launch period. Square Enix has yet to release official figures. Meanwhile, work progresses on the trilogy’s final chapter, with developers aiming to begin voice recordings soon and complete the project within the next three years. This next installment is awaited with high anticipation, promising to conclude the epic saga.
