Alan Wake 2 Receives Broad-Spectrum Update Featuring Over 200 Fixes and Enhancements

The recently launched Alan Wake 2 by Remedy undergoes an update, resulting in more than 200 distinct enhancements and rectifications to the gameplay.

Defined as Update 08, this new version elevates Alan Wake 2 to version 1.000.008 on PlayStation 5, version 1.0.0.8 on Xbox Series X and S, and version 1.0.8 on PC. The update addresses a wide array of issues ranging from graphical glitches to mission-specific bugs. Particularly, the patch introduces several audio-related enhancements.

Earlier, players had reported encountering audio issues mainly on Xbox; this update seeks to resolve those glitches. Remedy expressed regret for a specific bug that disrupted the alignment of the Oceanview Hotel Lobby Echo in Room 665, acknowledging it as particularly irritating.

The full list of improvements made in the Alan Wake 2 08 update patch includes

Global Enhancements:

An assortment of localization fixes, including better subtitle timing for all languages, improved localized audio for cinematics, an array of audio-related improvements, rectified minor cinematic glitches and enhanced environmental graphics. The patch also worked on refining lip-sync in a few instances. Minor refinements were made to image aliasing in Performance mode and on Xbox Series S. Additionally, lighting and several UI-related issues were addressed. Some gameplay elements were also improved, and a few player-character animation issues were rectified.

Mission-specific Improvements:

Certain mission-specific bugs were fixed in specific missions like Invitation, Casey, Zane’s Film, Scratch, We Sing, Room 665, Masks, Deerfest, and Come Home. These include issues with characters getting stuck, mission progress getting blocked, and more.

PC-specific Enhancements:

Lastly, the update made improvements to PC Window handling logic, fixed a bug that reset graphic settings upon game launch, and rectified the sometimes missing mouse cursor in menus.

This extensive update aims to significantly improve the overall gameplay experience of Alan Wake 2 for its players across platforms.
